Starbucks Frappuccino Costume DIY

Happy Halloween, lovely people! I hope everyone has been having a fantastic Halloweekend. Today, I’m serving up a super-quick Starbucks Frappuccino costume DIY. I’ve worn this to three different events this month already received a ton of compliments. Plus, this is a project where it’s easy to add your own flavor and flair!

You may already have a lot of the materials you need around your house, especially if you do a lot of crafts. Here’s my materials list (which includes Amazon affiliate links). Some of these items, such as the felt, are much cheaper to buy individually at a craft store:

If you’re buying a slip for your costume, I really do want to encourage you to go a size up. I bought a cheap slip from Walmart since I didn’t want to mess up my other nude slip, and it was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. I actually ended up wearing my other slip underneath it to make it smoother and less sheer.

First, I printed out the siren logo on a regular sheet of paper. Remember that you’re going to be cutting this out, so you may want to modify it a bit depending on how much you enjoy working with scissors! Go ahead and cut around the outer circle of the logo.

Next, I pinned my pattern to the white felt and cut to get the base for the logo. Then, I pinned the pattern to the green felt and cut out the details of the logo. This part of the frappuccino costume was really the most time consuming (and it probably would’ve gone much faster if I had better scissors).

Once all the pieces were cut, I used tacky glue to place the green outline on the white background. Since felt is fairly easy to stretch and shape, I recommend gluing down small sections at a time so that you make sure your logo gets aligned the right way.

Try your slip on and look in the mirror to determine where you want your logo to go. Once you’ve decided, lay it flat on the table and put a piece of paper inside the slip (you don’t want to glue the front and back together! Use tacky glue to place the logo where you want it.

Now it’s time to add your whipped cream! Cut out circles of varying sizes out of the white felt. These don’t need to be perfect or symmetrical. My largest circles were around 6 inches in diameter, and I did a lot of smaller ones as well. Shaping your whipped cream can be tricky, depending on how you want it to look. I folded my circles in half, then in half again, and I secured them with a stitch.

Make sure to put some to the side for your headband! I used a combination of strategically-placed stitches and tacky glue to secure my whipped cream to my dress. I really like the security that a quick stitch brings, but feel free to try tacky glue only if you aren’t a fan of sewing.

Time for the headband! Take a sheet of green felt and spread tacky glue on half of it, then roll it up – this is your straw! I used tacky glue to stick my straw to my headband, but I did have to use pins to hold it in place until the glue dried. Then I glued down my remaining whipped cream.

Congratulations, you’re now a frappuccino! For an added touch, you can write your drink order (or your name) on the back with a Sharpie or fabric pen.

Oh, and don’t forget to prepare yourself for the question you will inevitably get asked when people see your frappuccino costume, “What flavor are you??”
