Today was the first Atlanta United game at the brand-new Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and let me tell you, it was impressive! The new Mercedes-Benz stadium is massive, with tons of amenities and surprisingly affordable concessions (you can get free Coke refills, too)! Next time, I’m either going to hit up the Fox Bros BBQ or Chick-fil-a stands. As far as amenities are concerned, I was also super grateful for the enclosed stadium’s AC and shade, since I didn’t have to worry about sunburn! Oh, and they also have free wifi and a complimentary phone-charging valet station – pretty classy!
The atmosphere was incredible. There was something especially nice about the way the team chants echoed around the stadium, which today was hosting over 45,000 soccer fans! Things got especially crazy when we scored those goals… indoor fireworks are pretty neat.
I really loved the fan village experience. There was plenty of room for everyone outside of the stadium, and lots to see! We stopped by the #wannaSprite station, where we sampled new flavors of Sprite and got a free baseball cap! There was an obstacle course that looked pretty neat, but it wasn’t open today. Hopefully we’ll get to try it out next weekend! There were also plenty of photo ops for those of you who are always in search of the perfect picture!
If you haven’t already, you definitely need to attend at least one Atlanta United game at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, whether you’re a soccer buff or just a loyal Atlantan looking to revel in a great citywide bonding experience. And make sure you join in those chants loud and proud! My personal favorite to bellow at the top of my lungs is:
