Let me tell you about one of my favorite ways to get outside and active in Atlanta – Yoga on the Square, held by Colony Square in Midtown. Every Wednesday from 6-7 PM, local yoga instructors lead an outdoor yoga session next to the giant MIDTOWN letters. My schedule last summer conflicted with Yoga on the Square, so I was extremely excited to add it to my routine this summer! One of my major summer goals is to get back in shape, and this is definitely good motivation!
Yoga on the Square kicked off on May 3rd, with instructors from CorePower Yoga and Exhale Spa. The launch party also included a DJ, healthy snacks, and giveaways! Personally, I’m in love with this cute Yoga on the Square tote I received. There’s also a new loyalty program this year, so I’m excited to see what the reward is for four sessions!
While I’ve taken yoga classes before, Yoga on the Square at Colony Square is my first outdoor yoga experience. I have to say that it’s pretty fantastic! There’s something incredibly peaceful about resting on your back and staring up at the clouds (and the tall buildings of Midtown)!
Unfortunately, I’ve let myself get super out of shape this past year, so yoga has been totally kicking my butt, BUT I can tell that I’m starting to improve! I’m also trying to dedicate more time to exercising at home, as part of my self-care routine. Finding time to set aside is hard, but it’s so worth it. I can really tell that a good yoga session, workout, or even a nice long walk really relieves a lot of stress.
Fortunately, if you’re in ATL and haven’t had a chance to check out Yoga on the Square yet, you’ve still got time! The final Wednesday isn’t until October 25. AND it’s a rain or shine event- don’t worry, you don’t have to do yoga in the rain, it’s just moved inside to the Colony Square atrium!
My #SQUATGOALS top and yoga pants are both from Old Navy. Aren’t they cute? I actually really love squats… lunges and burpees, however, are another story entirely! You can find the top here and the pants here.
Do you have any fitness goals for the summer? Do you like the idea of outdoor yoga? Let me know in the comments!
