Global Runway ATL 2017 – Fashion & Flights

On May 18th, I had the pleasure of attending the inaugural Global Runway ATL event at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson airport. This fashion event, held in the International Terminal, was unlike any other fashion event I’ve attended before (& in the best way possible)!

Firstly, I loved that the event was held during the daytime. It’s not every day that you get to view a luxury fashion presentation while airplanes are taking off and landing right outside – it made for a pretty spectacular backdrop! Another really cool aspect of Global Runway ATL was the interactive-ness. Attendees were invited to get up close and personal with the designs and models, exploring the textures of the materials and taking tons of pictures. Personally, I found this to be a genius touch, because I hate ending up with blurry runway pics of a design I really like! The spring/summer collections included in the presentation included Tommy Hilfiger, Swarovski, Sean John, and Ateaelle (an ATL-local brand).

Global Runway ATL served as an opportunity to highlight the more than 300 commercial venues found at Hartsfield-Jackson, now known as ATL Skypointe. I guess it isn’t that surprising that the world’s busiest airport would also house a ton of shopping and dining options for visitors to explore! Pop-up shops from brands such as Bijoux Terner, ExOfficio, Mori Luggage & Gifts, and Luxe International gave attendees the chance to browse and get a better idea of the range of stylish products available at Hartsfield-Jackson’s many shops.Seeing the embroidered sun hats on display made me feel extra trendy about my latest DIY project!

In addition to the actual fashion presentation, attendees snacked, mingled, and took some fantastic photo booth snaps (#catchflightsnotfeelings). We also received a print version of ATL Skypointe’s lookbook, which you can find online here! I think it’s incredibly convenient that you can shop for a trip right before you hop on a plane (or grab a gift on your way home from a trip). If you’re a frequent ATL traveler, be sure to check out the new ATLRewards program, too!

I had so much fun at Global Runway ATL, and I’m really excited to see what happens with the event in the future!

I’m pretty in love with the outfit I wore, too. This embroidered-trim dress and these espadrille wedges are both from Old Navy, and I just got them during a sale a few weeks ago. I’ve worn the dress once, and I’m already considering getting it in a different color. I really love these shoes because of the ankle strap. As a shortie, I like having shoes that give me a few extra inches of height, and so far these have been really comfy. The ankle strap makes it impossible to accidentally step out of them (which is the main problem I face when walking in heels). I dressed everything up with a gorgeous multi-strand necklace and bangles.
