Easy Dogwood Nail Art DIY

Easy Dogwood Nail Art | Raine In The Ctiy

Today, I’m sharing a super easy dogwood nail art design. It’s been a long time since I’ve actually taken some “me time” and done my nails, and I decided that the Atlanta Dogwood Festival was the perfect reason! Floral nail designs have always been my favorite, and they’re usually pretty uncomplicated. You don’t really need any fancy tools (although I’m sure they would make things a little neater)! Let me show you how I did this particular dogwood nail art:

First off, I pampered my legs and feet a bit using the free samples I received from Influenster in my Ivy VoxBox (see my next post for more about the Ivy VoxBox). I’m trying to get my feet sandal ready now that the cold-weather boots season has ended!

I painted my nails with two coats of light pink polish. My fingernails usually chip really quickly, so I was determined to get a good base coat this time! I tried using my blow dryer (on the cool setting) to dry the very first coat before I applied the second. It actually seemed to help quite a bit.

Next, I added my dogwood petals. Dogwoods have four petals, and they are typically white. I made several full flowers, and added in some extra petals around the edges. I don’t have a dotting tool, so I’ve been using either an unfolded paperclip or a matchstick. It works pretty well!

I let the petals dry, and then I added the black notches on each petal with an extra fine paintbrush. (This was by far the most challenging part, since I decided to have this little spa evening extremely late at night when I was very tired. My hands weren’t very steady).

Finally, I added the golden center to the flower. I was planning to use my gold nail polish, but I’ve managed to misplace it. Instead, I used a gold paint pen. I was worried about it smearing when I applied a clear top coat, but it turned out fine! I really love the glimmer it adds to the design. All that’s left to do after that is cleaning any runaway polish off your cuticles with a Q-tip and some polish remover!
